An online lecture (in Russian) titled Remember, Never Forget: The Palaces and Parks of Pushkin Town in 1941-46 will be broadcast on our social media channels at 6 p.m. (Moscow time) this Friday, 8 May 2020.
Dr Iraida K. Bott, Tsarskoe Selo deputy director for research, will talk about:
- how the museum workers managed with great efforts to evacuate the artifacts and preserve them far from the front line;
- how they collected the surviving fragments bit by bit after Leningrad’s suburbs were freed;
- how they worked to prepare for scientific reconstruction of the destroyed palaces; and
- how the artifacts stolen during the Nazi occupation keep returning to the museum.
On the same day with the lecture and under the same title Remember, Never Forget: The Palaces and Parks of Pushkin Town in 1941-46, a PDF collection of articles (in Russian) by the Museum’s research workers will be posted on our website. This collection is a tribute to the museum employees who restored and preserved Tsarskoe Selo in the postwar years and revived the splendour and grandeur of the former imperial residence.
