Revived in 2015-19, the interior of the Catherine Palace Chapel has won in the nomination Best Implemented Restoration / Reconstruction Project at the Third International Golden Trezzini Awards.

Our interior conservation and restoration project was one of 744 applicants from 59 countries and then competed among 60 finalists from 19 countries. Examined and selected by an international panel of judges, the winners in 20 main nominations were announced during the awards ceremony at the State Hermitage Museum Official Hotel in St Petersburg on the evening of 1 December 2020.

Carried out by Tsarskoselskaya Amber Workshop specialists with full financial support from Gazprom, our project competed against the Northern River Passenger Terminal of Moscow and the Railway Station of Ivanovo. Director Olga Taratynova of Tsarskoe Selo, who came up on the stage together with our head architect Maria Ryadova to receive the golden trophy, thanked for the great honour and compared the awards with a ray of sunlight during the gloomy days of pandemic.

Named after Domenico Trezzini (1670–1734), the first architect of St Petersburg and founder of Petrine Baroque, the International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design have been held since 2018. With the motto “Architecture as Art”, the Awards' main goal is to acknowledge and promote architecture and design projects that amount to works of art.

The winning entries of 2020 will be on display at the St Petersburg History Museum in 2021.
