The Girl with a Pitcher of the eponymous fountain has returned to its place in the Catherine Park after three months in the Stillness exhibition at St Petersburg's Manege Central Exhibition Hall, where it was on display together with six other objects from the Museum's collection.

The most famous sculpture of Tsarskoe Selo was away for the first time in the last thirty years.

According to Natalia Lanceray, our park pavilions curator, the Girl's "business trip" and re-installation went very well, thanks to art transportation professionals.

The romantic symbol of our parks and a muse to many poets, the sculpture in the park is a replica cast in 1990. The bronze original of 1816 by sculptor Pavel Sokolov, which is usually stored in our reserve collection, is currently part of the travelling exhibition Subject To Restoration: Palaces of Tsarskoe Selo, Reborn from the Ashes.
