Our exhibition Officers' Societies of the Russian Imperial Guard, running at the Martial Chamber (WWI Museum) until 18 October 2022, showcases nearly 400 objects of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries from the collections of Tsarskoe Selo, St Petersburg's Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps, and several private collectors.

At the opening ceremony, the collector and philanthropist Aleksey Gnedovsky donated to the Museum a dozen objetcs of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, including an officer's award shaska sword of 1915. The objects will later join the Martial Chamber's permanent display.

The exhibition tells about the life of Russian imperial officers in their professional societies, with their traditions, interests, reading and eating preferences. THe exhibitts include paintings, regimental books, paramedic Soroka's drawing, a women's bracelet in the shape of a sword belt with a sea dagger, a menu with “Borodino-style lamb” and “grenadier cabbage soup”. Some items have never been on display before.

The exhibition and its richly illustrated catalogue are supported by the VELES Capital investment company.
