For this year's annual event, Night of Museums in St Petersburg on 18 May 2024, Tsarskoe Selo offers special afterhours tours of the Great and Small Libraries in the Alexander Palace from 6pm to 11pm (last admission at 10pm).

Starting every 30 minutes, the tours will offer some jewels from our rare books collection of over 7,000 memorial volumes touched by Russian monarchs.

The imperial libraries started to form at Tsarskoe Selo in the middle of the eighteenth century. The book collection of Empress Catherine the Great can be considered the first imperial library. Each later owner of the imperial summer residence added books to the palace libraries according to their personal preferences and range of interests.

Tickets available only on the event's website
