On 12 June 2024, the Concert Hall pavilion of the Catherine Park hosted the opening ceremony of the 7th International Cultural Forum St Petersburg Deaf Culture and Art Week.

Commemorating Russia's Year of Family and poet Alexander Pushkin's 225th birth anniversary, the Forum has Tsarskoe Selo among its official partners. The opening ceremony featured actors and actresses of the St Petersburg Theater of the Deaf who performed Pushkin-based sketches and several sign songs. Visitors to the park had a great chance to learn about sign-singing and see the performers “sing” songs with their hands to recorded music.

Then the guests of the ceremony had guided tours of the Catherine Palace and Park in Russian Sign Language (RSL). Three of our museum guides became RSL-licensed this year. RSL programmes for kids and families are in our nearest plans.
