On Saturday 7 September 12pm–5pm, the Upper Greenhouses in the Alexander Park will host our Apple Midday for the eleventh time.
This year’s family garden event is themed "Have an Apple, My Sweet" referring to a fairy tale by Alexander Pushkin, a famous Russian poet whose 225th birth anniversary is commemorated in 2024. As always, Apple Midday offers a special time for kids and adults, and showcases great skills of our greenhouse gardeners who use old methods to grow apples, watermelons, melons, pumpkins and peppers from all over the world.
12pm to 4pm, we will offer:
- Pushkin's fairy tales The Tale of Tsar Saltan, The Tale of the Golden Cockerel, and The Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Knights, theatrical shows by Ekaterina Tihonova's Educational Theatre
- Twelve workshops including making apples from light plasticine, floral decorations, aromatic candles, painted brooches and painted zefir confectionery
- Tea ceremony
- Open-air games
- Our apple jam
- Photo zones in the apple garden
A nice bonus: guided tours of the apple garden with the history of our palace gardens and some modern tips on horticulture.
At 4pm, a stylish music concert by Shoobedoobe Jazz Band.
