Tsarskoe Selo State Museum and Heritage Site

High season over

19.10.2026

The high season of 2026 is over. The Catherine Park is free to enter from 19 October 2026 to mid-April 2027.

During mid-April through October 2026, Tsarskoe Selo received over 2.4 million visitors. The 'golden autumn' period 18 September to 18 October drew in nearly 100 thousand visitors to the Catherine Park, while over 20 thousand came during the last weekend.

Like before, our main attractions are the Catherine Palace and Park and the Alexander Palace.  Most our visitors are from all over Russia, while more than 165 thousand came from China, Vietnam, Turkey, Bulgaria, and other countries.

Especially popular this year, the Chinese Hall of the Catherine Palace was finally restored to its splendour in June. The great results of the restoration project have already been enjoyed by thirty-four thousand visitors and received Russia's biggest museum prize.

In late April, our new permanent display Tsar's Horses: Life after Service opened at the 19th-century site of the Pensioners' Stable and Horse Cemetery in the Alexander Park. Showcasing over 120 artifacts from the Tsarskoe Selo Collection, the exhibition is dedicated to horses at the Russian imperial court and the monarchs' influence on domestic horse breeding, with life stories of some famous imperial horses and their post-service retirement. The site has attracted nearly eight thousand visitors.

The Catherine Park had its Pyramid restored in July. The 18th-century Egyptian-style pavilion regained its corner columns and the gravestones of Catherine II's dogs.

October 2026 saw the end of the restoration of the 19th-century Sluice Bridge in the Alexander Park.

The museum offered Free Park Tuesdays and reduced rates to senior citizens, as well as free park entries for all before 9am and after 7pm and combined tickets to museum sites.
